Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
About the role
Pavilion of South Shore is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps patients/residents with comprehensive and personalized health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. The CNA assists patients/residents with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and exercising. At this facility, this is a collectively bargained position under the union.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical support for patients/resident's daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising
- Turn and reposition bedridden patients
- Ensure proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions
- Measure and record food and liquid intake
- Examine patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine
- Note and communicate patient/resident behavior and changes in mood
- Gather medical supplies
- Clean rooms and bed linens
- Check and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Answer to patient calls and needs
- May aide patients being transported to and from appointments
- All other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification
- Current CPR certificate or become certified within 90 days of employment, preferred
Skills
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Meets all health requirements, as required by law
- Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications
Physical Requirements
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards
- Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required
- Must be able to push, pull move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
