The Certified Nursing Assistant cares for residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse. This role assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures a safe and comfortable environment, and supports licensed nursing staff in delivering individualized care in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct resident care, including assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinent care as applicable, oral hygiene and feeding.
- Measure and record vital signs, weight, percentage of meal consumed intake/output as directed.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and position using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as applicable.
- Respond promptly to call lights, resident needs, and changes in condition; report observations to licensed nursing staff.
- Support residents’ independence and dignity, while ensuring safety and comfort
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and in accordance with facility procedures
- Follow infection control, safety, and universal precaution guidelines at all times.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive living environment
- Maintains a clean, safe and comfortable environment
- Provides postmortem care
- Provides skin care and observes residents’ skin when giving care and reports changes to licensed nurse.
- Contributes to the residents’ assessment (MDS/CAA’s) and the plan of care.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Graduate/GED
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the certification board or is a graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within 120 days of employment; name entered into state nurse aide registry.
Minimum Qualifications
- Computer skills are required.
- Meets all state and federal criminal background check requirements.
