About the Role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides resident care and support in all activities of daily living, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with serving meals, feeding, and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
• Provide assistance in personal hygiene, including bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and helping with showers or travel to the bathroom.
• Assist residents with ambulating, turning, and positioning.
• Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; recording intake and output information.
• Ensure resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials, answering call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
• Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Protect resident privacy and dignity by keeping information confidential and complying with HIPAA guidelines.
• Adhere to professional standards, company policies, and all federal, state, and local requirements, including JCAHO standards where applicable.
• Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, organizations, and maintaining licensure.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands

• Required to sit, stand, bend, and walk regularly.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
