Purpose of Position

Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Dresses, grooms, bathes, feeds, takes and records vital signs of patients.
  • Completes all ADL functions and documentation of such.
  • Answers call lights, assists in toileting, oral care, nail care, catheter care, assists patients in wheel chairs, transports, turns bedridden patients, reports patient changes, and takes out trash.
  • Bathes and dresses bed patients, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance.
  • Cleans room and changes bed linen.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
  • Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides or sterilizers.
  • Prepares food trays, feeds patients, and records food and liquid intake and output.
  • Maintains patient safety when caring for patients with oxygen therapy, IV Infusion Therapy, saline locks, traction, G-Tubes, NG Tubes, catheters, and CPM Machines.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
  • Reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information; adheres to Resident’s rights.
  • Maintains patient safety when caring for patients with oxygen therapy, IV Infusion Therapy, saline locks, traction, G-Tubes, NG Tubes, catheters, and CPM Machines.

  • Provides care for post-operative patient, orthopedic patient, Neuro-compromised patient, cardiopulmonary patient, etc.
  • Performs other work related / personal nursing care duties as requested.
  • Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management.
  • Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Current Massachusetts Nurse’s aide certification;
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers within 30-days of start date;
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served;
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills;
  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) preferred.

Schedule

40 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, Every other Weekend & Rotating Holidays
