Responsibilities
- Regularly measuring and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiration.
- Providing direct patient care in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines.
- Providing general nursing care to patients in accordance with the facility’s nursing policy and procedure.
- Addressing problems identified in the patient care plan.
- Assisting residents with mobility and daily activities such as walking, getting dressed, brushing teeth, eating, etc.
- Aiding in lifting, turning, and repositioning residents in and out of bed.
- Aiding in eating and drinking, and ensuring they receive proper nutrition and hydration.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient information, including ADLs, vital signs, food intake, and any observations or changes in the patient's condition.
- Reporting this information to the nursing staff.
- Recording all entries on notes, charts, etc. in a descriptive manner.
- Aiding with medical procedures such as collecting specimens, dressing changes, applying simple dressings, and monitoring intravenous (IV) fluids (under the supervision of nurses or other healthcare professionals).
- Communicating important patient information, reporting any changes or concerns, and contributing to the overall care plan.
Qualifications & Skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A current CNA certification through Minnesota.
- A cleared background check.
- Strong communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- The ability to interact with a variety of people and foster a team philosophy.
- The ability to negotiate and interact effectively with staff, patients, families, and professional/regulatory agents.
- Long-term care experience preferred.
