A Day in the Life as a CNA in Hospice Care

This is hospice work with heart, and your role makes all the difference. This position will serve Stephenson County and western Winnebago County.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will:

  • Provide physical and personal care under RN supervision, including bathing, grooming, oral care, and skin/hair care.
  • Perform homemaker services such as meal prep, making beds, light housekeeping, and assisting with feeding.
  • Aid in ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and positioning.
  • Reinforce dressings as needed and follow all infection-control and standard precautions.
  • Offer emotional support, compassionate listening, and reassurance to patients and families.
  • Support the primary caregiver through instruction, guidance, and hands-on help as part of the hospice care team.

What You’ll Do

Schedule & Pay

Full-time position
Competitive pay: $18.64–$24.23 per hour, based on experience

What You Need

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • An Illinois State Nursing Assistant Certificate.
  • One year of CNA, nursing home, or home health experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • The ability to work independently, respond quickly in crisis situations, and provide care with empathy.
  • An understanding and acceptance of diverse cultural, religious, and social backgrounds.
  • To meet all state/federal CNA training and competency standards.
