Duties
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respiration
- Provide support in feeding, mobility, and transferring patients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
- Document patient care activities accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Collaborate with nursing staff to implement patient care plans
- Support patients with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia care
- Auxiliary in medical procedures under the supervision of nursing staff
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Qualifications
- Previous experience in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks) is advantageous
- Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is a plus
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in areas such as phlebotomy or medication administration are beneficial
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology related to patient care
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine or ICU settings
- Careful demeanor with excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and families
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing healthcare environments
