Summary
The Family or Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner provides internal medicine consultation services to patients receiving inpatient or residential psychiatric care at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. The CNP practices under the direct supervision of a board eligible or board-certified physician, or APRN with full practice authority. The services provided falls within the scope of overall practice by the Nurse Practitioner including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with medical and psychiatric disorders.
Responsibilities
- Provides clinical services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients
- Documents each clinical visit in the medical record on the day of service
- Contributes to treatment plans and discharge summaries as needed
- Participates in team rounds and other clinical meetings, and helps coordinate treatment and discharge planning as needed
- Oversees appropriate medical care and prescribes medications as noted in the "McLean Hospital Guidelines for Practice" document
- Meets with families for clinical discussions as needed
- Communicates with referring sources, primary care physicians, and other community providers as needed
- Attends program and hospital administrative meetings as required
- Complies with all hospital clinical and administrative policies
- Participates in utilization management, risk management, and quality assurance activities
- Provides supervision of health professional trainees as appropriate
- Facilitates integration of medical services with other clinical program services
- Attends supervision with supervising/collaborating provider
Qualifications
- Education: Master's Degree Nursing required
- Licenses and Credentials: Nurse Practitioner [NP] / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN] [State License] required
- Experience: One year nurse practitioner experience treating adolescents and/or psychiatric patients preferred; minimum of 2 years experience as a Family or Adult Gerontology NP needed
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes
Schedule
- Availability to work Saturday
- Additional opportunity to cover weekday shifts on as-needed basis
- Day shift
Pay
$61.43 - $85.19/Hourly
