About the Role
Responsible for assisting women in all stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and post-delivery. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general medical direction of an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, guided by physician-approved protocols and evaluated through chart review, consultations, and observation of results.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, counsel, and educate patients to promote healthy living through education and primary prevention regarding medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.
- Conduct examinations and take detailed medical histories to identify and assess patient’s clinical and health care needs to develop an individual program of care.
- Identify high-risk pregnancies and make referrals to doctors and other medical specialists, as appropriate.
- Supervise and assist mothers in labor, monitoring the condition of the fetus and using knowledge of drugs and pain management.
- Offer support and advice following birth or events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality, and neonatal death.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- 2-5 years of nursing experience
- Advanced Practice RN license and certification
