Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) MUSC Mullins Nursing Center - FT Nights

About the role

The Certified Nursing Aide provides routine daily nursing care to assigned patients to ensure patient safety and promote their highest possible physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being according to all applicable laws, regulations, and MUSC Health standards.

Responsibilities

• Attends and participates in continuing education programs
• Works in department as well as throughout facility
• Subject to frequent interruptions
• Involved with patients, care team members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances
• Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.
• Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily as necessary
• Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday
• Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses

Requirements

• Graduate of a State-approved CNA program
• Currently registered/licensed in applicable State
• Maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
• One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred
• CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation

Qualifications

• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult patients
• Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
• Able to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department
• Proficient in all applicable competency areas
• Maintains professional working relationships with all care team members, vendors, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
• Completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
