About the role
The Certified Nursing Aide provides routine daily nursing care to assigned patients to ensure patient safety and promote their highest possible physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being according to all applicable laws, regulations, and MUSC Health standards.
Responsibilities
- Attends and participates in continuing education programs
- Works in department as well as throughout facility
- Subject to frequent interruptions
- Involved with patients, care team members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.
- Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily as necessary
- Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday
- Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses
Requirements
- Graduate of a State-approved CNA program
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable State
- Maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
- One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation
Qualifications
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult patients
- Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
- Able to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department
- Proficient in all applicable competency areas
- Maintains professional working relationships with all care team members, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
