Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains resident ADL needs including personal hygiene, oral/denture care, bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Comprehends and implements resident plan of care for physical and emotional well-being.
  • Knowledge and usage of Resident Rights, abuse and neglect policy, including reporting requirements and protocols.
  • Fulfills safety measures and equipment competency, including supply needs and replenishment.
  • Follows Infection Control policies and measures, including hand washing standard precautions, linens, clean and orderly environment.
  • Documents toileting times, incontinence, and continence; follows routine bowel regimes; reports to Nurse.
  • Encourages independence and decision making; ranges of motion, ambulation, transfers, and transport; body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
  • Measures, records, and documents vital signs, height/weight, I&O’s; reports out-of-limit findings to Nurse on duty.
  • Participates in resident care conferences and care planning.
  • Adheres to personnel policies related to attendance, breaks, meals, staff meetings, mandates, float assignments, dress code, etc.
  • Possesses high ethical standards and reports potential Corporate Compliance violations.
  • Attends mandatory educational programs and maintains 12 CEU’s per year.
  • Works weekends, holidays, and various shifts as needed.

Qualifications

Required: Certified as a Nurse Aide with the New York State Department of Health; Current Heartsaver certification.

Prior Nursing Assistant experience preferred.

Professionalism, team effort, kindness, and concern for residents and other employees.

Employment Schedule

Required to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as needed.

Physical/Mental Demands

Involves standing and walking most of the day. Requires lifting, moving, positioning, and transferring/rescuing equipment and residents. Adjusts to various staff members, assignments, and clinical areas.

Working Conditions

Exposed regularly to disagreeable odors, sights, body wastes, etc.

Hazards

Exposure to contagious diseases and infections; risk of injury due to irrational residents.

Essential Functions

May be exposed to Category I hazards involving exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues.
