Certified Nurse Aide - Day Shift 7AM - 330PM

About the role

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC), named for Medal of Honor recipients Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter, provides skilled nursing care for Virginia’s veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units. The Certified Nurse Aide (Direct Service Associate II) delivers direct resident care under the direction of the Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meals and escort residents to the dining hall.
• Make regular rounds, answer call lights promptly, and respond courteously.
• Complete all required paperwork and computerized documentation for charting assessments.
• Provide each resident necessary care in accordance with their plan of care and ADL record.
• Monitor and observe residents’ physical, mental, and emotional status; report changes to the Charge Nurse.

Requirements

• Current Virginia Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of personal care needs and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Physical ability to turn, bend, and lift non-ambulatory adult patients without restrictions.

Additional considerations

• Experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting.

Conditions of employment

• Successful completion of a background criminal history check, reference and employment verifications, and a pre-employment drug test.
• TB skin testing completed upon hire.
• Compliance with the federal CMS Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination Regulation: all employees must be vaccinated or receive an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Exempt employees are subject to testing requirements.
