Certified MLT, Core Lab Generalist

You start your morning calibrating analyzers, checking QC trends, and reviewing the run log before the first specimens arrive. A courier drops off a cooler from clinic draw; you verify integrity, prioritize STATs, and move seamlessly from a BMP on chemistry to a CBC in hematology. By mid-day, you’re validating results, calling criticals, and documenting maintenance — all while keeping the bench clean, compliant, and ready for the next shift of work.

Responsibilities

• Perform and validate qualitative and quantitative testing across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, immunology, urinalysis, and microbiology.
• Collect specimens via venipuncture, capillary, and arterial techniques when needed (age-appropriate competencies required).
• Run daily QC, participate in proficiency testing, and complete routine analyzer maintenance; document all activities accurately.
• Assess specimen integrity, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely, accurate reporting to medical staff.
• Follow CLIA, accreditation, OSHA, and internal policy standards; uphold infection control and chemical hygiene practices.
• Manage supply inventory, process monthly orders, and keep the laboratory organized and inspection-ready.
• Contribute to clinic performance improvement and quality initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Certification: ASCP or AMT (MLT).
• Competency in phlebotomy and adherence to OSHA safety standards.
• Analytical problem-solver with the ability to interpret written, verbal, diagram, and schedule instructions.
• Numeracy for calculations related to laboratory testing and health information; English fluency (speak, read, hear).

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay

$25 per hour

Work Environment

• Clinical lab setting with exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues.
• Frequent standing, walking, and instrument use; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift/mechanical assist as needed).
• Requires close vision and a high level of attention to detail.
• Maintain confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA regulations.
• Participate in committees and quality improvement efforts; maintain professionalism with patients, staff, and visitors.

This position is classified as OSHA Category – Laboratory Exposure due to regular exposure to blood and body fluids. This is a safety-sensitive position. Medical marijuana license holders who test positive for marijuana will not be qualified for this role.
