About the Role
The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications delegated by licensed nurses and document care outcomes
- Monitor resident conditions and report changes in health
- Support residents' psychosocial needs
- Assist with personal hygiene, transferring, repositioning, mobility, and range of motion exercises
- Prepare and assist with meals, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Perform light housekeeping and laundry tasks to maintain resident living areas
- Collect vital signs and gather non-invasive body fluid specimens
- Participate in wellness and recreational activities to promote resident well-being
- Provide age-appropriate care aligned with individual care plans
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care (preferred)
- Completion of state-specific CNA and medication aide training/certification
- Maintains required certifications and continuing education
- Valid driver's license may be required depending on location
