Westside Nursing Home is a fantastic Long-Term Care Facility seeking a friendly and professional Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to administer daily medication to residents in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident’s chart.
- Delivers routine daily medications as prescribed by physician to residents; passes resident medications in accordance with physician orders and as stated on the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records; documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor.
- Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
- Documents completion of tasks delivered on a daily basis; documents any observed change of condition in accordance with local rules and regulations.
- Communicate between Med Techs/Med Aides about resident needs for consistent quality services.
- Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room; assures that residents are positioned appropriately for meals; assures that appropriate utensils are within reach of residents; serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated; delivers and documents all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements; provides hydration to all residents according to center policy.
- Responsible for knowledge of proper procedures to provide personal care services to residents; provide requested personal care services to residents.
- Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Nurse Supervisor or Physician of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Records and restocks medication inventories.
- Prepares equipment and aids nurses during treatments and examinations of residents.
- Checks residents in section regularly; answers call light promptly; follows through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of resident need.
- Provides residents’ personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assists with travel to the bathroom; helps with showers and baths.
- Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transports residents; answers resident’s call lights and requests; reports observation of the resident to nursing supervisor.
Qualifications
- Certified in the state of practice, required.
- Successful completion of State Approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; name must appear on State Registry as Nurse Aide in good standing.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (All SNFs; ALFs as required by state).
