About the role

The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of residents. This dual-certified position involves assisting with medication administration, providing hands-on care, and supporting residents in achieving or maintaining optimal health.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with medication administration and provide treatments under the supervision of a nurse.
  • Maintain resident rooms in a clean and orderly manner through light housekeeping, linen changes, bed-making, and bathroom cleaning.
  • Provide direct care and support for activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Attend and participate in facility meetings and in-service training programs.
  • Practice good infection control and observe residents for changes in condition, behavior, or functional status.
  • Prepare residents for meals and assist with feeding.
  • Ensure residents' privacy and property are safeguarded.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and provide direction to staff and others.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
  • CPR certification
  • Experience: 0-1 years
  • Knowledge: Various medications, privacy regulations, record-keeping, communication, and infection control
  • Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 100 lbs, operating various equipment, hearing, vision, and manual dexterity

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of various medications, their purposes, dosages, routes of administration, and potential side effects.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of record-keeping skills to document medication administration and patient responses accurately.
  • Ability to educate patients about their medications.
