Qualifications
- Texas Certified Nurse Aide
- Minimum of 6 months experience
- Current certification for Medication Aide
- Ability to communicate effectively in English through both speech and writing
- Previous patient care experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with facility’s established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures, and safety rules and regulations.
- Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours thereafter to administer quality nursing care.
- Verify the identification of a resident before administering nursing care or serving food to assure appropriate care is provided to the correct resident.
- Assure that water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh drinking water, and within the resident’s reach.
- Reports promptly any change of patient condition or other concerns to Patient Care Supervisor.
- Follow charting guidelines for PRN documentation.
- Reports medication reorder.
- Participates in all assigned meetings, trainings, education, and in-service as required.
- Inventory documentation of drugs on appropriate forms.
- Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator.
A CMA is under the direct supervision of the charge nurse. The charge nurse will follow up with the CMA to ensure the med pass is completed timely and accurately to maintain the highest degree of quality resident care.
