About the Role

AmeriCare Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to support residents in our Memory Care community. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring safe medication administration while providing hands-on support with daily living activities in a secure, home-like environment. Working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, you'll help promote comfort, dignity, and consistency of care for residents living with memory loss.

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications and supporting residents with activities of daily living in accordance with state regulations and Americare policies. This role partners closely with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure resident safety, routine, and person-centered care in a Memory Care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
  • Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and promptly report adverse reactions or concerns
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility
  • Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required
  • Support coworkers by providing assistance as needed
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning resident rooms and common areas
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist with tours as requested

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) program that meets state requirements
  • Active certification in good standing

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
  • Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
  • Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.
  • Follow proper resident care procedures, including two-person lifts when required
  • Utilize required PPE to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  • Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation
  • Participate in company drug testing procedures
  • This role is performed in an indoor Memory Care environment with appropriate lighting and ventilation. Duties may occasionally include accompanying residents to outdoor or community activities under supervision.
