About the Role

Provides direct and indirect non-professional nursing care in a correctional facility medical clinic under nursing or medical supervision. Performs patient care tasks including vital signs, lab specimen collection, hygiene, ADLs, charting, and patient escorting. Observes and documents patient conditions, reports pertinent changes, and performs delegated functions within educational preparation. Maintains a clean and safe environment while ordering, receiving, and storing medical supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic clerical duties, schedules appointments, and participates in patient follow-up and tracking activities.
  • Provides case finding and recruitment of at-risk individuals for comprehensive health services.
  • May provide outreach services to clients within the community and perform other related patient care duties.
  • Performs the full range of patient care services under nursing or medical direction.

Requirements & Certification

  • At least one year of experience providing patient care.
  • All healthcare staff must complete the 16-module ODOC online training before assignment; training time is not billable.
  • Documentation of completed ODOC training must be provided to the facility Nurse Manager before assignment.
  • Current Oklahoma State Department of Health certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred: Current Oklahoma State Department of Health certification in Glucose Monitoring and Insulin Administration.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing practices, sanitation, personal hygiene, medical terminology, public health services, and record keeping.
  • Ability to document observations, follow oral and written directions, communicate effectively, and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to apply basic nursing techniques, conduct interviews, and provide accurate patient care under supervision.

Pay

$20 - $23/hour

Schedule

Days/Evening/Night (6 - 12 months contract)
