About the Role

Under the direction of the Radiation Therapy Physicist and/or the Radiation Oncologist, calculate computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Register CT, PET/CT, and/or MRI images to generate and compute standard dose calculations and determine computerized generation of isodose curves for radiation treatment programs. Calculate treatment machine settings, document calculations, and record treatment data in therapy chart.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment aids and beam modifying devices, including head holders, molds, shields, cradles, compensators, and others as needed.
• Assist in imaging localization procedures, using CT or conventional radiographic techniques.
• Transfer of CT, PET, and MRI datasets to develop anatomical structures.
• Register PET/CT or MRI images with simulation CT’s to create deformable fusion/registration.
• Assist in outlining of anatomical structures and the planning target volume in three dimensions.
• Create and calculate highly conformal, computerized isodose plans for all types of radiation oncology patients/tumor types and locations utilizing techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and SRS.
• Discuss treatment aims with physicians, including planned tumor doses and maximum acceptable doses to normal tissue.
• Generate isodose distributions, perform calculations for prescribed dose delivery, and present plans to physicians and/or physicists.
• Create and maintain PDF plan documentation, secondary calculations, and records in the Treatment Management System (TMS).
• Calculate treatment times or monitor settings for prescribed dose delivery.
• Assist in treatment plan verification through simulation using CT or conventional radiographic techniques.
• Support therapist staff in implementing treatment plans.
• Enter treatment parameters into the Treatment Management System.
• Participate in routine quality control, including weekly chart checks and rounds.
• Engage in clinical research for new treatment techniques.
• Provide treatment-planning instruction to staff, residents, and students.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient billing information.
• Manage inventory of radioactive substances and handle loading/unloading as prescribed.
• Assist in localization and treatment implementation for brachytherapy cases.
• Ensure compliance with department and state policies in patient care and treatment planning.
• Participate in continuing education for treatment planning techniques and medical dosimetry advances.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
• Work at any Company location and overtime as needed.
• Adhere to company policies, maintain a neat work area, and ensure equipment safety.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required (bachelor’s or master’s degree in medical dosimetry preferred)
• Certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or Board eligible

Experience

0-1 year of dosimetry experience. Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) eligible.
