About the role
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care and support within the ambulatory setting. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
Responsibilities
- Accurately completes patient interviews
- Collections appropriate specimens
- Assists the physician with patient exams
- Maintains departmental inventory
- Provides patient education
- Ensures quality direct patient care and non-professional services as directed by Physician
- Supports the Virtualist Program by collecting patient intakes remotely and assisting in telehealth visits as directed by the physician
- Performs phlebotomy for diagnostic studies and CLIA waived testing
- Completes EKG’s and drug and alcohol testing
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required
- Certification in Phlebotomy ASCP preferred
- BLSHCP certified within six months of hire or transfer
- Active National Certification with a certifying agency approved by NJ (i.e. AAMA, NCCT, NHA, AMT, BME) required
- Experience: 1-3 years of prior experience in Ambulatory care preferred
