Position located in Winston-Salem, NC within the Peds Medical Clinic. Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

About The Role

Novant Health is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to coordinate and assist healthcare providers in delivering safe, quality, and cost-effective care to our diverse patient population. This role emphasizes teamwork, community involvement, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every patient receives remarkable care in every interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures.
  • Take vital signs and obtain medical histories.
  • Assist with patient form requests such as FMLA or other needed forms.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment.
  • Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.
  • Foster a safe patient environment driven by the principles of "First Do No Harm."
  • Engage in teamwork and community involvement to enhance patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program including pharmacology and medication administration.
  • Current certification as CMA, RMA, or CCMA, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Approved certifying registries include:
    • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
    • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
    • American Allied Health (AAH)
    • RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • If not currently certified, must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of hire and sign an education agreement.
  • Previous work in a medical office is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to successfully complete skills validation and competency testing.
