About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant Pediatrics assists doctors and nurses in providing care to pediatric patients. Duties include recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling appointments, and performing standard care procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Answer patient phone calls.
  • Measure patient height, weight, vital signs.
  • Patient Scheduling, charting, medical data entry using AdvancedMD EMR.
  • Knowledge in the fields of medicine, anatomy and physiology.
  • Maintain records.
  • Training and knowledge in OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Room patients in exam rooms and obtain chief complaint information.
  • Knowledgeable of first aid procedures.
  • Chart findings in a timely manner.
  • Obtain in-house lab tests (lead, hemoglobin, rapid strep, flu) as ordered by provider.
  • Notify provider when vaccine/supply stock is running low, allowing time to reorder before supplies are depleted.
  • Complete follow-up patient calls, when not providing patient care.
  • Stock exam rooms with needed supplies.
  • Keep office and work space neat and tidy.
  • Give injections.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Clean treatment rooms after patient examinations.
  • Interview patients to obtain their medical history.
  • Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
  • Perform routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.
  • Draw blood, remove sutures, change dressings.
  • Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
  • Properly dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Assist physicians during examinations by handing over instruments and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Healthcare experience required.
  • High School Diploma or Higher.
  • AdvancedMD experience is a plus.
  • Experience in pediatrics.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a medical assistant (CMA) is preferred.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
