Pay
Expected pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.01/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.
Schedule
This is an hourly position.
About the role
The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice, providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care, and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Performs duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and clinical duties as delegated.
- Provide clerical support in both clinical and front office settings.
- Assist in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities under the direction of a physician or provider.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a medical assistant (MA) program, certification course, or equivalent MA training/experience.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from one of the following approved certifying agencies:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – CMA credential.
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – RMA credential.
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) – NCMA credential.
- National HealthCare Association (NHA) – CCMA credential.
- National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
- American Allied Health (AAH).
- American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) certification to be completed within 2 weeks of hire date.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft software and solid computer skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Specific knowledge and training related to administrative skills, technical/clinical skills, and medical procedures commonly performed in a medical practice setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a medical office assistant, CNA, or equivalent.
- Previous experience with an electronic health record (EHR) and phlebotomy.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of Epic.
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
