Certified Medical Assistant - OBGYN

Employment Type: Full‑time. Location: Saint Francis Hospital - Wilmington, DE.

About the role

Assists the ambulatory care setting physician or other professional healthcare provider with support for patient care and examinations, including exam preparation and lab work. Performs basic medical assisting procedures necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients. This position is a key role serving our community.

Responsibilities

• Show patients to exam room, interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) and document in Electronic Health Record.
• Accurately assess patient symptoms, reactions, and physical condition and record data in the medical record.
• Take any necessary labs, prepare for pick up and record in the patient electronic health record; communicate with the appropriate departments on protocol for all labs and receive all information needed for procedures.
• Properly set up exam room and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assist with procedures and examinations per physician/healthcare provider preference (e.g., gynecological exams, minor surgeries, electrocautery, biopsies, sigmoidoscopies, casting, sterile technique procedures, specimen preparation).
• Maintain knowledge and skills of front office operations; assist as necessary with reception, medical records, scheduling, and billing functions.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NHA, NAHP, or NPCE.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• 1+ year of previous Medical Assistant experience in a Physician's office (preferred).
