Responsibilities Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during patient exams, treatments, and proceduresRoom patients, obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and other pertinent clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR)Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and other clinical tasks within scope of practiceAdminister medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of licensurePrepare patients for exams and procedures and provide support throughout their visitEducate patients on medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up instructionsCoordinate referrals, follow-up care, and communication with patients as neededSupport ongoing care for patients with acute and chronic health conditionsAssist with maintaining efficient patient flow and a positive clinic experienceEnsure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environmentWork collaboratively with providers and the care team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:National Healthcare AssociationAmerican Association of Medical AssistantsNational Center for Competency TestingNational Certified Medical AssistantNational Association of Health ProfessionalsAmerican Registry of Medical AssistantsAmerican Allied HealthAmerican Medical TechnologistsPrior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferredFamiliarity with EPIC a plus!Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skillsAbility to build positive relationships with patients and familiesFor positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
