About the role

Certified Medical Assistants handle patient intake, update medical records, administer screenings, record vital signs, collect specimens, and administer medication under physician supervision. They also assist with examinations, collecting laboratory samples, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, cleaning patient rooms, prepping examination rooms, and providing emotional support.

Responsibilities

  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Affixes with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Takes vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assists with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
  • Welcomes patients to the facility and Schedules appointments: Organizing appointments for patients.
  • Maintains medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Cleans patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits.
  • Preps examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
  • 2+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast pace environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times.
  • BLS upon hire.
  • EPIC or similar EMR system.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • Required: 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
  • Required: 2+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • Required: BLS upon hire.
  • Required: EPIC or similar EMR system.

  • Strong written and communication skills.
