About the role

Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) play a crucial role in providing direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the supervision of physicians. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the smooth functioning of practice operations and provide excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
• Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
• Affixes to walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
• Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
• Takes vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
• Assists with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
• Collects and prepares laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
• Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast pace environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times.
• Strong written and communication skills.
• Greeting patients: Welcoming patients to the facility and Scheduling appointments: Organizing appointments for patients.
• Maintaining medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
• Cleaning patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits.
• Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
• Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
• Prior experience in Health Care services.
• 2+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.
• Excellent Communication, Work Ethic, Active Listening, Adaptability to working in fast-paced environment, and hold upmost professionalism at all times.
• BLS upon hire.
• EPIC or similar EMR system.
