About the Role

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. This role operates on a day schedule (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) with no weekends, contributing to our mission of making communities healthier.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings.
• Maintains patient rooms and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
• Supports nursing and physician staff with patient care activities and unit workflow.
• Manages tech desk operations and assists with maintaining efficient department throughput.
• Documents patient care and activities in accordance with hospital and unit standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Handle with Care certification preferred.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility accredited by The Joint Commission, offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. Key features include:

• 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds.
• 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit.
• Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites.
• Diagnostic imaging services: MRI, CT, PET/CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and X-ray.
• 13-bay Emergency Department with over 15,000 annual patient visits.
