Certified Medical Assistant - Employee Health

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs phone calls, schedules appointments, checks in patients, obtains necessary patient information to file and update patient records, collects payments (when required), and ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients.
• Performs basic patient assessment including body weight, height, vital signs, and current medications.
• Verifies patient information and enters information into the medical record. Reports all changes in patients' condition to the health care provider.
• Performs specific procedures such as venipuncture or capillary puncture and tests on patients as directed by the Provider.
• Aids in maintaining supplies and clinical emergency equipment. Ensures exam rooms are properly stocked and supplies are not expired.
• Participates in in-service programs, staff meetings, and other required programs.
• Aids in collecting and labeling specimens prior to sending them to the lab for testing and ensuring results are accurate.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly environment for self, patients, and teammates.
• Demonstrates cooperative, constructive, problem-solving interactions with all teammates.
• Maintains accurate, detailed, confidential patient information in spreadsheets to facilitate the complex care management program.
• Provides assistance and customer service to patients and visitors. Develops rapport and trust with patients and visitors.
• Fulfills other job-related duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant certification program.
• At least one (1) year in a healthcare setting preferred.

Qualifications

• Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Respiratory Fit Testing as defined by OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard required annually.
