Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist physician/nurse practitioner with various clinic duties as assigned, including answering phone calls, assembling medication education materials, and managing the referral process.
- Obtain and enter vital signs and other clinical data in patient record with complete accuracy.
- Prepare patient charts/information for medical appointments to ensure accurate and comprehensive charting.
- Track and coordinate data pertinent to patients' care (i.e. Medication assistance and sample medications, drug utilization evaluations, etc.).
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and referrals as needed.
- Continue to further education by attending continuing education and training courses for continued certification.
- Review all outpatient medication storage and administration locations for monthly pharmacy review requirements.
- Use standard precautions and OSHA guidelines in the disposal of medical waste.
- Complete and submit billing documents.
- Track and log equipment maintenance documentation.
Requirements
- Education: Associate degree in Medical Assisting preferred
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office setting
- Certificate or Professional License: Certification in Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage
