About the Role
Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, functioning as an integral team member under provider supervision. Performs clinical duties such as preparing patients, reviewing pertinent information, documenting in electronic medical records, and supporting a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient intake, vital signs, screenings, medication reviews, and specimen collection.
- Supports procedures like EKGs, wound dressings, and minor surgeries based on competency.
- Prepares and administers medications, completes tests, and manages lab specimens.
- Handles clerical tasks including scheduling, documentation, referrals, billing, and inventory management.
- Ensures infection control, maintains exam rooms, and participates in patient safety and quality initiatives.
- Facilitates communication between patients and providers, reinforces education, and supports team orientation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required, certified by recognized associations (e.g., NHA, AMT, AAMA).
- High school diploma or equivalent necessary; specialty training preferred.
- Strong clinical and administrative skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow protocols are essential.
- Ability to support patient safety, infection control, and teamwork is vital.
