Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully
• Prepares and reviews patient charts for upcoming visits, ensuring all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up-to-date
• Maintains departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed
• Measures vital signs including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED
• Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): CMA, RMA, CCMA, NHA, NCMA, NCCT
• BLS Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
• One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
• Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required)

• Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Engages with staff and patients in a professional manner
