Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Outpatient Behavioral Health

Role Overview: Provides direct patient care, clinical support, and administrative duties in an outpatient setting. Functions as part of the healthcare team under provider supervision, performing tasks such as patient preparation, vital signs collection, EKGs, wound care, medication administration, specimen collection, and assisting during minor procedures. Ensures patient safety, privacy, and accurate documentation within electronic medical records. Supports clinic operations through scheduling, billing, referrals, and inventory management. Maintains infection control protocols, sterilizes instruments, and monitors equipment for proper functioning. Facilitates effective communication with patients and providers, reinforces patient education, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skills: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), certified by NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA. Graduation from an accredited 1-year or 2-year medical assistant program. Strong clinical and clerical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of medical procedures, infection control, and EMR systems. Compassionate with excellent communication skills. Key Duties: Patient care, clinical support, specimen collection, medication administration, documentation, room setup, patient education, inventory management, and assisting with provider needs. Actively participates in patient safety and quality improvement programs, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards.
