Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Gastroenterology Clinic
About the role
The Medical Assistant supports Gastroenterology Associates at Lake Cumberland Physician Practices (LCPP) by providing high-quality clinical care and administrative support. This role is essential in ensuring efficient clinic operations, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support both patient flow and revenue cycle processes.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
- Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains examination areas.
- Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Requirements
- A graduate of accredited medical assistance program or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- CCMA, CMA or RMA license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) obtain within 60 days of hire.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
