Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Full Time

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and provides clerical office assistance.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam room, treatment room, supplies, and instruments.
• Prepares patients for physician visits and examinations, assisting as directed.
• Takes patient’s vital signs and records them in the medical chart.
• Understands the proper function and care of special equipment.
• Performs EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab testing as indicated after completing a performance evaluation checklist.
• Maintains records by completing patient records as directed; files records and reports.
• Assists with collections and billing procedures as needed.
• Uses computer software to maintain office systems.
• Identifies and responds to issues of confidentiality.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and delivers care specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing or visually impaired). This includes communicating with patients, parents, or primary caregivers at their level (developmental, educational, literacy, etc.).
• Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs., and stands a minimum of 1 hour per day.
• Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively and supportively with varying populations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred).
• Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Registered Advanced Medical Assistant, Certified Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist, Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate, Certified Clinical Administrative Medical Assistant, or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant certification.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Pay

The starting rate of pay is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting. The posted hourly rate is $23.68. The final base compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Certain positions may also qualify for shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work, as well as performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
