Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant – Bon Secours Suffolk Primary Care
Essential Functions
- Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
- Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Makes vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed
Education & Licensure/Certification
- High School Degree or GED
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
BLS
- Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
Experience
- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
Skills & Abilities
- Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
Range
- Minimum: $19.03
- Maximum: $28.54
