Certified Medical Assistant Position Summary
A Certified Medical Assistant assists Physicians and Nurses to meet the health care needs of patients.
Minimum Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Active National Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Initial and ongoing security clearance requirements
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Acute care experience preferred
- MAT experience preferred
Essential Functions
- Takes vital signs, height and weight
- Assists with PPDs and EKGs
- Draws blood
- Makes and records intake and output
- Assists with patient treatments such as dressing changes, decubitus ulcer, and tracheostomy care
- Adheres to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures
- Schedules appointments
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills
- Is proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement
- Receives re-certification training annually
- Assists in cleaning, sterilizing and securing of equipment
- Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications
- Labs draws
