What You’ll Do
Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant provides physician support services to ensure the clinic operates smoothly while providing patient care. The CMA is responsible for administrative and clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assisting physicians with exams, and performing front-desk tasks.
Responsibilities
- Aid in developing guidelines and training curriculums for medical assistants.
- Phlebotomy/Venipuncture
- IM/PO medication administration as ordered by provider
- Minor Procedures (Minor Wound Care, Suture and Staple Removal, etc.)
- Aid with in-room diagnostic testing (X-Ray, US, etc.)
- Vitals
- Update Patient Medical History
- Chief Complaints and recent changes to mental, social, physical health
- Gap Closure (Foot Exam, DRE, etc.)
- Review provider orders with patient
- Review referrals with patient
- Review normal/stable labs or diagnostic tests with patient and forward any concerns to provider
- Remote Patient Monitoring Support
- Reinforcing understanding and adherence to care plan
- Respond to patient calls/messages same day
- Collaborate with Medical Assistants, Transitions of Care Team, Chronic Care Team, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team for continuity of care
- Other duties assigned by Center Director and Medical provide

- Bilingual/Bicultural (English and Spanish) Required
Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Certification in Medical Assisting from AAMA, CCMA or any other nationally recognized body required
- Active ACLS or BLS certification (or willing to obtain on within 7 days of start)
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), knowledgeable of medical terminology
- Previous experience in specific medical field preferred
