About the role

The Medical Assistant at Sentara Urgent Care Centerbrooke is responsible for providing patient care tasks and administrative duties, demonstrating safety awareness, and maintaining a productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care tasks and procedures
• Administers medications and treatments as directed
• Collects and records vital signs and other patient data
• Prepares examination rooms and equipment
• Communicates with patients about their health status and treatment plans
• Processes insurance claims and maintains accurate records
• Collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT Basic Certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
• One year of clinical/administrative experience preferred

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy
• Knowledge of medical coding and billing systems
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent customer service skills
