Job Overview

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to work in the Gyn Clinic at Steeplechase Cancer Center in Somerville, NJ.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification as a Medical Assistant from one of the recognized organizations: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, NAHP
• Prior relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Essential Functions

• Creates and maintains health record information, files, and organizes as needed
• Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary
• Communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner
• Performs clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, urinalysis, and blood glucose testing
• Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environment
• Rooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains and records vitals and updates medical history
• Supports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing lab requests

Pay and Scheduling

The pay range for this position is $27.85 per hour. Scheduling is per diem, day shift, with no holidays or weekends.
