About the Role
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is at the forefront of Proactive MD’s clinical operations and is a champion of our Patient Promise: “We are only and always about the patient. We Promise to fight for their greatest good.” The CMA supports the health and wellness center’s clinical and clerical operations, assists providers, and performs appropriate tests and procedures as directed. The role also involves administrative tasks, patient engagement, and outreach.
Responsibilities
- Assists with treatments ordered by the provider as supervised by the provider or registered nurse.
- Performs select clinical duties, including interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information on patients' charts.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Performs basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
- Performs basic materials management functions, such as ordering and stocking supplies.
- Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- May document the provider’s encounter with patients, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
- Transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
Requirements
- Ability to draw blood and confidence in blood draw skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, valid for at least 90 days after the start date.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly.
- Knowledge of HIPAA.
- Certification in hearing and fit testing preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screen.
