Job Summary
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you support healthcare professionals and patients. You work closely with doctors to provide care. Responsibilities include updating records, administering medication, giving injections, and recording vital signs.
Responsibilities
- Aid with patient examinations and treatments under physician guidance.
- Clean and prepare treatment rooms before and after procedures, ensuring supplies are well-stocked.
- Guide patients through the examination process and help them get ready.
- Interview patients and update medical records.
- Collect detailed medical information to assist the physician in understanding patient needs.
- Record patient vital signs such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Prepare patients for exams, tests, procedures, and x-rays.
- Perform regular patient tests including electrocardiograms and collect blood and urine samples.
- Administer routine medications and vaccinations as directed.
- Maintain vigilance for adverse reactions and report to the physician.
- Change dressings, remove sutures, and staples as needed.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Less than (1) one year of experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from a program accredited by a reputable professional healthcare association
- Knowledge of medical administration safety procedures and standards
- Understanding of the five patient rights
- Adequate documentation skills adhering to organizational policies and regulatory standards, including privacy laws
- The ability to closely observe a patient's general physical condition and report any noticeable abnormalities to the healthcare provider
- Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood
- Understanding of medical terminology
- The ability to foster trust and rapport with patients
- The willingness and ability to follow instructions from doctors
- Familiarity with medical charts and records
- A keen eye for details
