Job Summary

Certified Medical Assistant 2201 MacArthur Dr Waco 76708 - Internal Medicine Schedule is: Full time, weekdays. M-F, 8a-5p

Responsibilities

  • Aid with patient examinations and treatments under physician guidance.
  • Clean and prepare treatment rooms before and after procedures, ensuring supplies are well-stocked.
  • Guide patients through the examination process and help them prepare.
  • Interview patients and update medical records with detailed medical information.
  • Record patient's vital signs such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Prepare patients for exams, tests, procedures, and x-rays.
  • Perform regular patient tests including electrocardiograms and collect blood and urine samples.
  • Administer routine medications and vaccinations as directed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Change sterile and non-sterile dressings, remove sutures and staples as needed.

Requirements

  • Medical assistant certification from a program accredited by a reputable professional healthcare association.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Collaborative.
  • Clear understanding of medical administration safety procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of the five patient rights.
  • Adequate documentation of patient information according to organizational policies and regulatory standards, including privacy laws.
  • The ability to observe a patient's general physical condition and report any abnormalities.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and drawing blood.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Able to foster trust and rapport with patients.
  • Willingness and ability to follow instructions from doctors.
  • Familiarity with medical charts and records.
  • A keen eye for details.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • At least (1) one year of experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA), Cert Med Asst (CMA), Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC), Reg Med Asst (RMA), Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA), Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from accredited programs.
