About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology seeks a Full Time Certified Medical Assistant 2 to join our team at the UHealth Medical Campus.
Responsibilities
- Perform multi-skilled tasks to assist medical providers.
- Assist patients’ healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner.
- Provide hands-on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Monitor the quality of care provided and nurture a compassionate and healing environment.
- Work directly with the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse and/or the Designee in charge of the Unit or Clinic to ensure a safe delivery of care.
- Abide by ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize, respond to emergencies, and demonstrate professionalism.
- Take patient vitals and quality measures during in-person visit.
- Aid in connecting and performing intake-quality measures for telehealth visits.
- Reconstitute Botox and manage medication inventory.
- Aid in procedures such as lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, and nerve blocks.
- Perform blood draws and send samples to the lab following test protocols.
- Provide patient with provider’s care instructions and information.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
- Order, stock, and inventory supplies, and assist with clerical duties.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulatory guidelines to include Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Approved MA Certifications: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- HIV & AIDS Certification: Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional.
- Continue Education (CE) Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
