Certified Medical Assisant

About the role

APS Pediatrics Thunder Road is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in Elizabeth City, NC. New graduates are welcome to apply. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with floating as needed and mileage reimbursement offered. Certification is required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety.
• Performs patient care tasks, procedures, and administrative duties as appropriate.
• Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess situations, consider alternatives, assist with developing action plans, and evaluate outcomes.
• Develops specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, ensuring effective inter-departmental interactions.
• Follows department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
• Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency (required).
• Must have one of the following certifications on the first day of employment:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • Certified EMT (EMT-B)
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire date.
• Phlebotomy experience (highly preferred).

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
