Certified Long-Term Substitute (Districtwide)
Various long-term substitute teaching assignments available throughout the district, including Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education. Positions are for the 2026-2027 school year with exact dates to be determined. Assignments last no less than 20 consecutive contract days, covering medical leave, maternity/paternity leave, or other long-term certified vacancies.
About the role
This position promotes instruction and a learning environment that enables each student to master skills appropriate to their age, grade level, and individual capacity. Responsibilities include generating lesson plans, classroom management, and participation in site activities.
Requirements
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s). For details, visit http://www.eed.state.ak.us/TeacherCertification.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education.
- Experience teaching at grade level appropriate to endorsement.
- Experience or ability to work with instructional technology.
- Experience with team teaching, integrated content, and project-based assessment.
- Experience integrating technology into the classroom.
- Previous experience working on a team in a professional learning community.
Pay
Certified teacher salary is based on the JEA Salary Schedule and depends on experience and education.
