Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Chief Building Official or designee, performs advanced residential and commercial building inspections to ensure compliance with state and local building codes, approved construction plans, and applicable safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced residential and commercial building inspections to ensure compliance with state and local building codes, approved construction plans, and applicable safety regulations.
• Provides technical guidance regarding code interpretation.
• Prepares detailed inspection reports.
• Affords assistance with complex compliance issues.
• Serves as a resource to staff, contractors, and the public regarding construction and code enforcement matters during construction.
• Communicates as directed by the Chief Building Official with permit holders/contractors/architects/engineers regarding the status of construction plan/code compliance.
• Affords assistance in the dissemination of Chief Building Official's orders.
