Certified Histotechnician or Certified Histotechnologist

Full-time position with a variable schedule (days). Shift differentials available for swing, night, and weekend hours. External candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance.

About the Role

Our Histology department processes a wide variety of specimens, including routine histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and special stains. The role requires strong organizational skills to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a high-paced, stressful environment. Teamwork and collaboration with coworkers and other departments are essential to maximize daily workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis by the Pathologist.
• For Histotechnologists: Conduct high-complexity histologic and immunohistochemical procedures, test development and validation activities, and provide advanced technical consultation.

Requirements

Histotechnician

• One of the following:
  • Associate degree in a laboratory science, or
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program, or
  • Education/experience qualifying to take and pass the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam (minimum 60 college credit hours, including at least 18 combined biology/chemistry credits).
• HT (Histotechnician) certification by the ASCP Board of Registry required within 6 months of hire.

Histotechnologist

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• One of the following:
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histological Technician program, or
  • Education/experience qualifying to take and pass the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam.
• HTL (Histotechnologist) certification required within 6 months of hire.
