Histotechnician/Histotechnologist

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient samples, including grossing, tissue processing, tissue sectioning, and routine staining.
• Performs immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections using automated immuno‑stainers.
• Performs whole slide imaging of stained slides using automated slide scanner.
• Performs minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Ensures safety in the histology laboratory by adhering to Department specific guidelines.
• Ensures proper handling and disposal of sharps containers and biohazardous lab waste.
• Adheres to the CAP, CLIA and NYS regulations.
• Completes instrument maintenance logs.
• Provides Quality Department with required performance metrics.
• Adheres to Department Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

• 5‑10 years of histology experience within an anatomic pathology laboratory.
• ASCP HT or HTL certification required.
• Significant Histology and IHC experience required in a clinical laboratory.
• Prior experience using imaging platforms is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in life sciences, or equivalent histology qualification (e.g., HT or HTL).
• Anatomic or clinical pathology degree is a plus.
• Must meet the requirements of CLIA‑88 (42 CFR 493.1443).

Pay

$35 – $45 per hour

Schedule

Full‑time, on‑site position.
